The £2m grant with EPSRC/BAE Systems approval came in last week (remember the June workshop they put us through?).
This is a first.
1. I think it's the highest grant amount in the school (not checked) even though it's divvied up between 14 of us
2. It's the first grant by EPSRC to the business school - rather than the ESRC
3. It shows that BAE Systems is seriously looking into service transformation. Let no one out there doubt that service is serious business and not some foofy idea. If the biggest defense contractor in Europe buys into it, there must be something in there!
4. It really raises the profile of the centre and the school, and we hope it will create more research opportunities.
